Importing a used car to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
Cars 12 years or older are banned, and a vehicle surcharge built from engine size, age and value applies.
Age limit
The Ministry of Finance FAQ says vehicles 12 years or older are not permitted. The page shows no date, so confirm the limit is still current before you buy.
Vehicle surcharge
Budget 2023 lowered import duty and excise from 1 January 2023. From 1 April 2023 a revised vehicle surcharge applies. It is worked out like this:
For vehicles other than cars, range, seating or tonnage replaces engine size. Vehicles ordered and paid for before late 2022 had a transition period that has now ended.
The factor values and the current duty and VAT rates were not on the pages we could read. For a real quote, use the official Customs duty calculator.
